Day by day

Day 1 Arrival in Sofia

Arrive in Sofia and meet your guide. Transfer and installation in the hotel in Sofia. Introduction to the program and according to the flight discover the Bulgarian capital. Welcome dinner in a traditional Bulgarian restaurant. Overnight in Sofia (two nights).

Day 2 Sofia - Boyana Church - Rila Monastery – Sofia

In the morning visit the Boyana Church (Unesco site) and marvel at its spectacular pre-Renaissance frescoes. Admire rural Bulgaria on route to the Rila Monastery in the pine-carpeted Rila Mountains. Rila monastery is the most famous and fascinating monastery in the Balkans, under the UNESCO protection. Dinner and overnight in Sofia.

Day 3 Sofia - Plovdiv

After breakfast departure for Plovdiv, Cultural Capital of Europe in 2019, this is one of the oldest cities in Europe with rich heritage. We will explore the Old Town, one of the lovely part of the city, offering an impressive architectural and historical reserve. Dinner and overnight in Plovdiv.

Day 4 Plovdiv - Kazanlak + DEMONSTRATION IN A ROSE OIL DISTILLERY

After breakfast departure for the fortress of Assen and the Bachkovo Monastery, the second largest monastery in Bulgaria. At the top of the fortress of Assen you will enjoy an awesome 360 degrees panorama all over the Rhodope Mountains, The Thracian Valley and the imposing Balkan Range. Direction towards the valley of roses and kings traces. Visit the world's only rose museum and taste rose oil products in the historic complex. Dinner and overnight in Kazanlak, ``the capital of the rose``.

Day 5 Kazanlak – Valley of roses – Chipka – Lovech

Discover the mysterious epic of the Thracians by visiting the temples and tombs in the region, recently renovated and presenting a unique architecture. The Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak (early 3rd century BC) is a true masterpiece of Thracian architecture and painting. On the road between Kazanlak and Shipka, visit the elegant Russian-style Nativity Church. Climbing the Shipka pass (1,200 m above sea level). On the top of the mountain, admire beautiful view towards the valleys of the Northern and Southern Bulgaria. At the end of the day enjoy the tranquility of the Sokolovo monastery. Day 6 Lovech - Etara - Tryavna + WOOD SCULPTURE DEMONSTRATION

Visit Etara, the only open-air museum site, representing 18th century and 19th century Bulgarian lifestyles and crafts. The complex is home to more than 50 different sites: craft workshops, waterworks and other buildings. Walk through the small cobbled streets, the stone fountains, and the old houses. Real-time observation of master craftsmen at work. Departure to the small town of Tryavna, an artisanal center of woodcarving. At an altitude of 440 m, the city is at the foot of the northern slope of the Balkan massif (Stara planina). Visit the Museum of Icons of the School of Tryavna. Standing on the heights of the city, it contains productions from the local school of icon painters. There are exposed more than 160 original icons, as well as instruments characteristic of the zographer (painter of icons). Dinner and overnight in Lovech.

Day 7 Lovech - Troyan - Oreshak – Lovech + POTTERY DEMONSTRATION

After breakfast, visit Troyan and the unique National Exhibition of Popular and Artistic Craft located in the village of Oreshak. This is the only exhibition in the country, which has gathered all the works of Bulgarian artists of all ethnographic regions in Bulgaria in one place. There is a demonstration area in each room, where every guest cannot only see how are produced the different items, but also to try to touch the typical fot the region crafts - pottery, woodcarving, pyrography and weaving. Visit the monastery “Assumption of Virgin Mary”. Day 8 Lovech - Veliko Tarnovo - Arbanassi – Lovech

day to explore Veliko Tarnovo, the cultural centre of northern Bulgaria. Dubbed the City of the Tsars because of its crowning as the capital during the reign of the Second Bulgarian Empire, it was home to several of Bulgaria's former monarchs. The houses of the old town are like withe birds on the cliff side above Yantra river and create a magnificent view. After a short tour of the city, you will head to the village of Arbanassi where its Holy Nativity Church is a must-see. Dinner and overnight in Lovech.

Day 9 Lovech + TRADITIONAL BULGARIAN DANCES

Discover Lovech - one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria. Visit the architectural reserve Varosha with its narrow, meandering streets, churches and houses that are particularly valuable architectural landmarks and the Ethnographic Museum. Free afternoon. Accommodation and dinner with traditional Bulgarian dances in Lovech.

Day 10 Lovech - Sofia

Breakfast. Transfer to the Sofia airport.
