Discover Bulgaria at your own pace to better immerse yourself in the
places, while limiting the number of kilometers. We suggest that you slow
down the pace of the trip by extending the duration of the stages. It is
useless to change accommodation every night, it is tiring and we only fly
over everything around us. Take your time and enjoy this trip, which
includes charming accommodation with breakfast and rental car.
This trip is concentrated in the Greater Balkan region – authentic and
picturesque, in the center of Bulgaria and in the heart of the Bulgarian
soul. You will also visit the capital Sofia, the magnificent valley of roses
and trace kings, but thus make unforgettable human encounters.

The passage through the
valley of roses and the Thracian kings shows the beauty of the virgin
nature of the Balkans. Visit the beautiful city of Plovdiv - European
capital 2019. The circuit includes accommodation with breakfast and rental car.

Day 1 Arrival in Sofia

Arrival at Sofia airport. Meet and greet by your Bulgarian guide. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight.

Day 2 Sofia - Glozhene Monastery – Cave Saeva Dupka – Lovech

After breakfast, the car and travel notes will be delivered to your hotel. Departure to the Glozhene Monastery „St. George. It is not hidden in the recesses of the mountain range, but rises on a high rock terrace, separated from the surrounding land by steep and vertical cliffs. Visit the cave of Saeva Dupka – considered one of the most beautiful caves in Bulgaria, housing hundreds of diverse rock formations. At the end of the day arrived in Lovech - one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria. Two nights with breakfast in a charming hotel in the center of the old town of Lovech. Transfer: 2 hours 30 min / 174 km

Day 3 Lovech –Troyan - Staro Stefanovo

After breakfast, visit the architectural reserve Varosha with its narrow, meandering streets, churches and houses that are particularly valuable architectural landmarks and the Ethnographic Museum. Continue to the unique National Exhibition of Popular and Artistic Craft located in the village of Oreshak. This is the only exhibition in the country, which has gathered all the works of Bulgarian artists of all ethnographic regions in Bulgaria in one place. There is a demonstration area in each room, where every guest cannot only see how are produced the different items but also to try to touch the typical fot the region crafts - pottery, woodcarving, topography, and weaving. Visit the monastery “Assumption of the Virgin Mary”. Built at about 400 meters above sea level, the biggest monastery in the Balkan mountains is surrounded by beautiful forests and the Cherni Osam river, which gives a particular charm to the place. The next stop will be the village of Staro Stefanovo, where you will feel the old Bulgarian spirit. Transfer: 1 hours 35 min / 97 km

Day 4 Lovech - Veliko Tarnovo – Arbanassi

Free day to explore Veliko Tarnovo, the cultural centre of northern Bulgaria. Dubbed the City of the Tsars because of its crowning as the capital during the reign of the Second Bulgarian Empire, it was home to several of Bulgaria's former monarchs. The houses of the old town are like withe birds on the cliffside above Yantra river and create a magnificent view. After a short tour of the city, you will head to the village of Arbanassi where its Holy Nativity Church is a must-see. Accommodation for two nights with homemade dinner and breakfast on an ecological farm. Transfer: 1 hours 48 min / 127 km

Day 5 Bozhentsi - Tryavna

Departure to the small town of Tryavna, an artisanal center of woodcarving. At an altitude of 440 m, the city is at the foot of the northern slope of the Balkan massif (Stara planina). Visit the Museum of Icons of the School of Tryavna. Standing on the heights of the city, it contains productions from the local school of icon painters. There are exposed more than 160 original icons, as well as instruments characteristic of the zographer (painter of icons). On your way is the beautiful village of Bozhentsi, full of charm. Its natural setting and the beautiful houses will enchant you. Transfer: 0 hours 54 min / 28 km

Day 6 Bojentsi – Etara –Kazanlak

Visit Etara, the only open-air museum site, representing 18th century and 19th century Bulgarian lifestyles and crafts. The complex is home to more than 50 different sites: craft workshops, waterworks, and other buildings. Walkthrough the small cobbled streets, the stone fountains, and the old houses. Real-time observation of master craftsmen at work. Stop and enjoy the tranquility of the Sokolovo Monastery. Start climbing the Shipka pass (1,200 m above sea level). On the top of the mountain, admire the beautiful view towards the valleys of the Northern and Southern Bulgaria. Arrival and overnight in Kazanlak. Transfer: 1 hours 30 min / 63 km

Day 7 Kazanlak – Koprivshtitsa – Sofia

Breakfast at Kazanluk. Discover the mysterious epic of the Thracians by visiting the temples and tombs in the region, recently renovated and presenting a unique architecture. The Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak (early 3rd century BC) is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Discovered by chance in 1944, it is a true masterpiece of Thracian architecture and painting. You will visit a distillery to discover the manufacturing process and see its small museum. Continue to Koprivshitsa, the 19th-century village museum and one of the most picturesque old villages in Bulgaria. At the end of the day return to Sofia. Overnight in the same hotel as the first day. Transfer: 3 hours 40 min / 219 km

Day 6 Sofia - Departure

Breakfast. You may visit other sites and monuments before your flight. Transfer to Sofia airport. Transfer: 0 hours 49 min / 44 km
